The Breast Enlargement Surgery Consultation
On my first consultation with Dr. Vitolo, I found out that
I could have my augmentation performed by way of a navel incision. This type of incision
is not for every person and many doctors who perform the technique do not place the
implants under the muscle. For me, this approach was a very palatable option. Since
I had recently given birth, I was concerned about the way scars would heal on my still
stretched skin.
I also had surgery on my shoulder the year prior to breast
augmentation, which left me with yet another scar. With the only incision in the navel,
scarring from breast implant surgery would no longer be a concern for me. I scheduled my
surgery that night for about a week and a half later. I had already had a consultation
with a different doctor and as all of my questions were answered and I had done prior
research -- I was ready to go.
Although a payment plan was available, I decided to charge the
surgery on my credit card, get the air miles and then switch it to a low interest credit
card until I decided how I wanted to pay for it. I had the money but didn't want to lay it
all out at once for something like this.
Cold feet caused some rescheduling but my cousins and I ended up
having our surgery during the same week, two of us in the same day! By the time I was
being wheeled into surgery, and despite countless sleepless nights and last minute
research, I knew I wanted to have this done. I had spent too many summers padding bathing
suits, shunning skimpy sundresses and throwing out sexy negligees that just seemed to
accentuate my small chest. I envied women with larger breasts and wished I could be like
the women I saw with larger chests that I thought were normal in size.
I decided on my size after a solid month of staring at Playboy
magazines and their Lingerie edition. Dr. Vitolo recommended that we talk less about cup
size and more about what my visual expectations of size were. My husband and I worked on
this together as a full-time project for the two weeks prior to surgery.
Each time I had decided I wanted to be a C but no bigger, I would
have doubts and consider my cousin's advice that I go for a D cup. Her advice was
persuasive since she had been through it before. This worried my husband who was totally
supportive of my decision but worried that I would be too big. If I was a little smaller
than I wanted, I could always wear things that showed them off or made them look bigger.
On the other hand, if they were too big, they would be hard to hide. I ended up asking for
a medium to full C and handed Dr. Vitolo the picture of my dream breasts as we did
some final discussion prior to surgery. As you already know and will read about in more
detail below, cup size is the last issue to focus on. Before you get to that point, you
will or should perform exhaustive research to satisfy yourself that the benefits of the
surgery outweigh the risks associated with the surgery.
